About James Hatchett

In 1984 James Hatchett started working for a charter boat company in Houston. James was responsible for cleaning and finishing teak wood boat decks. In 1986 James joined the Army as a combat engineer where he learned more about woodworking. In 2006 James worked for a teak furniture refinishing business. In 2013 James founded Sunwood Refinishing in Fort Worth, Texas with the intent of specializing in teak wood patio furniture preservation. In 2020 the company name was changed from Sunwood Refinishing to Sunwood Restoration to better represent the scope of our services.

About Sunwood Restoration

Approximately 90% of the patio furniture that we work with is made of teak wood. While there are many types of wood used for outdoor furniture, teak is recognized as the premier wood for outdoor environments. Other wood patio furniture that we work with includes ipe (Pronounced eepay), mahogany, roble, acacia, eucalyptus, red wood, cedar, iroko, and others. We also work with other patio furniture as well. Sunwood Restoration is known by many in the patio furniture industry in Texas and around the United States. Patio furniture retailers, decorators, designers, architects, property managers, insurance companies, and contractors place their trust in our ability to provide great service and advice for their customers and clients.
